Bonjour backstagers. The time has come to give you a little sneak peak behind the scenes of this here editor. Although you know me best as the ohher and ahher of all things pretty on the front page and the occasional user of the term RAD, there is actually a whole boatload of other random tidbits that I can share. I’ll leave the reallllly crazy stuff for another time and just fill you in on some of the people, places, and things that make me tick. And I’ll try not to bore you in the process.

1. The Name That Got Away: Although I have come to appreciate my given name, when I was little such was not the case. My Mom once made the mistake of mentioning that she almost named me Paige. From there on out I would daydream about my life as “Paige” – pretty, popular, ever so talented, perfect hair. I was thoroughly convinced that I would have been much cooler had my parents chosen this moniker. You have to admit, Paige Lepperd does have a certain ring to it.
2. Dreaming of Space Planning: Before I landed my dream job of gushing about weddings all day, I was an interior designer in San Diego. This was after I majored in marine biology at UCSB and realized that even though I love, love, love dolphins – getting wet is just not my thing. So fast forward a few years, a parental heart attack or two and I managed to procure a degree in designing of the interior kind. I still use my degree every now and then, although not quite the way I intended. When I can’t sleep, I literally lay in bed space planning my house and designing the heck out of it. It totally sends me into la la land and gives me great design concepts for the little abode. It’s a win win if you think about it.
3. How I met Your Grandfather: True Story…hold on to your hats ladies and gents…I met my husband in a bar. Yes, it can be done. And Mom, if you’re reading this I’m sorry but I kissed him before I knew his name. He was just too cute to pass up and knowing his name wasn’t going to change the fact that I was head over heels. At least we’ll have an interesting story to tell our grandchildren
4. Color Me Pretty: Hello my name is Erin and I am addicted to color arranging. As in my closet, my drawers, even my bookshelves are arranged by color. My husband thinks I’m crazy but he has admitted that a whole row of yellow books is the cat’s meow.
5. Oprah for President! I think the suggested categories in my Netflix are a huge indicator of my personality. For instance, one category is Dramas with a Strong Female Lead. I so admire super strong, confident and successful women. And my number one Girl Crush is without a doubt Oprah. Yes, I totally subscribe to the Church of Oprah and think she would make an AH-MAZ-ING President.
6. Pool Shark for a Day: I am by no stretch of the imagination a pool shark. I love a little game every now and then but have never been great or even good for that matter except for once. I was hanging out with my bestie when two guys approached us to play a game of pool. I warned my newly christened partner that I was bad, like really, really bad but he didn’t listen. And then something happened. The stars aligned and the Gods smiled down on me because I kid you not I got the first shot in and proceeded to clear the table. I cleared the table and won the game! No one else ever even had a chance to shoot. It was pretty amazing and has never happened since.
7. Lifetime is the Jam: I have this really weird obsession with Lifetime Movie Network. A) I think the long, awkward titles are beyond amazing and B) the acting is so phenomenal, how could I possibly resist watching for hours? Riveting t.v. I tell you.
8. Oh Roof Deck, you Complete Me: I am not even lying, until I moved to Boston, I had never stepped foot on a roof deck but oh.my.goodness how have I lived without this rooftop wonderment? And score one for the Lepperds because we procured a phenomenal little plot in the Charlestown sky yard. The views are amazing and it so makes up for the fact that our apartment is around 400 sq. ft. I might even live up there this summer. Do you think the neighbors would complain?
9. Just Call Me Julia Child: I love cooking but there are a few dishes that I have perfected over the years. They are really intricate and have taken years of practice and dedication to master but I think I could win awards for this stuff. They are, in no particular order, Salsa, Chili and the heavy hitter: grilled cheese. Invite me over and I’ll show you. I make a mean grilled cheese.
10. Giggle Fest 2011: Probably my most favorite thing to do in the whole world is laugh and I do A LOT of it. (I have the crows feet to prove it!) I love, love, love to send people into a fit of giggles and I’m so not above goofy dancing. It completely warms my heart and I’m convinced that laughter is the best medicine. And if you can make me laugh then we’re sure to be fast friends.
xoxo Erin “Paige” Lepperd
I think you should run for president. xox
Erin, you’re such a gem! I think you and I are kindred spirits. Particularly with the dream “name”. Maybe Irish names weren’t cool to us back when we were younger? I much preferred Rebecca to Kathleen.
Erin, you’re so fabulous
I laughed out loud at #3! And oh my goodness, what a stunning bride! Hope you have a great weekend!
Lisa
How could I have forgotten about Pool Shark for a Day?! Truly an amazing event! xo
This was so adorable – Love these little “get to knows” – What am I going to read after I am not a bride in 4 weeks!
Love this Erin! You are so talented – and totally had me laughing all the way through! xoxo ps, rooftop decks are amazing – we live for them in Chi-town!
You are adorable. And I am right there with you on the crows feet, but the giggle fests are totally worth it.
I will vote for Erin when she runs for Prez. (love the image!)
#3 is theeee best! You were “makin’ it happen”!
Love your spontaneity and the honesty with a story like this.
I love this backstage insights. Thanks for another great peek.
Long live Oprah and laugh lines!
Church of Oprah? Oprah for President? I stopped reading after that. I don’t like you already.
Oh my gosh, Erin! You totally had me cracking up. And, hello! GORGEOUS!
hahaha too funny, i am cracking up at #1
Thank you for all of the sweet compliments. I assure you I have no plans of running for President
and Anhelina I’m so sorry you feel that way but I promise you there is more to me than my adoration for the Queen of Talk. I also recycle like nobody’s business and adore children and puppies. Do you like me a little now?
I do.
Stunning picture, Erin! You are so funny and heartwarming
Wow! Kissed him before you knew his name? In a Bar?! Maybe there’s hope for me yet. I say vote for Erin for president!
oh my gosh! this is HIGH-larious. I miss those crows feet! And Paige Lepperd? ooh la la!
But I like Erin Lepperd better.
And I’m pretty sure there’s not a single person who has met Erin who doesn’t adore her to pieces.
Love it. Anyone who follows your ‘pins’ knows you are a talented interior designer, whether you currently making a living at it or not! Thanks for sharing!
wait til you girls see what she’s done with my pad!
that was abby saying that from tait’s computer…tait doesn’t say words like “pad”
So, I started following your blog about 4 months back. I love your style and I follow your Pinterest now too. This is the first time I’ve visited the backstage, and now I love you more.
4 things.
1. I met my husband in a bar
2. I went to UCSB
3. At UCSB, my roomies and I would call “snow days” (ha!) and block out the windows and cozy up on the couch to watch Lifetime Originals all day long. One time we watched “Cutting” twice in a row.
4. I live in San Diego
Not that that makes us best friends, I just liked all our coincidences, Now, If I could manage to be as stylish as you!
We had a very similar string of events. I also did not like “Erin” growing up at all, I majored in marine biology at URI, I moved to San Diego, and then back to the east coast, and now I’m in the wedding world! Thanks for sharing with us!
Such cute tidbits!!! I am such a fan Erin – your blog is one of my very favorites!!!
